அசாத் சாலியை விடுதலை செய்யக்கோரி ஜம்இய்யதுல் உலமா ஜனாதிபதிக்குக் கடிதம்.

அசாத் சாலியின் விடுதலை தொடர்பாக அகில இலங்கை ஜம்இய்யதுல் உலமா ஜனாதிபதிக்கு கடிதம் ஒன்றை அனுப்பியுள்ளது. அதன் சுறுக்கமாவது,  அசாத் சாலி இந்திய பத்திரிகையொன்றிற்கு வழங்கிய பேட்டியொன்றில் கூறிய கருத்தொன்ற அடிப்படையாக வைத்து பயங்கரவாதத் தடைச் சட்டத்தின் கீழ் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதாக அறிகிறோம், அவர் அவரது கருத்தையே கூறியுள்ளார். மேலும் அசாத் சாலி உயர் இரத்த அழுத்தம் மற்றும் நீரிழிவு நோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார், தொடர்ச்சியான அவரின் சிரை வைப்பு அவரது ஆரோக்கியத்த்க்கு பாதிப்பாக அமையும். அவரின் தற்போதை நிலையை கருத்தில் கொண்டு அவரை விடுதலை செய்யுமாறு ஜம்இய்யா வேண்டியுள்ளது.

Your Excellency,

We wish to convey to Your Excellency our deep concern with regards to the arrest of Mr.Azath Sally. We are made to understand that he has been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act on the basis of certain statements said to have been made by him to an Indian newspaper. In this connection, representations have been made to us to the effect that Mr.Azath Sally had clarified his comments in a subsequent news release.

Furthermore, Mr.Azath Salley is suffering from hypertension and diabetes and his continued incarceration is inimical to his health.

In these circumstances, we are appealing to your Excellency to direct that the reasons for his arrest be reviewed and that in any event he be released forthwith on medical grounds.

We look forward Your Excellency’s kind response.
